Protection & Humanitarian visas

Australia offers a protection visa (subclass 866) and Humanitarian visas to refugees who are at risk of considerable harm or persecution in their home country.

Our expert immigration lawyers can help you with your protection visa application, and also prepare you for your visa interview. We understand the distress of situations where you are not able to return to your home country, and we provide compassionate and caring advice.

We offer migration services in 10  languages—apart from English—so it can be a comfort to be able to talk with our lawyers in your own language.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a protection visa, you must first have arrived in Australia on a valid visa, and be cleared by immigration on your arrival.

Requirements

To meet Australia’s requirements for a protection visa, you need to show:

  1. That you face imminent threats in your home country such as religious persecution, or cruel or inhuman treatment or punishment

  2. You are unable to move to a safe part of your home country

  3. The authorities in your home country are not able to protect you

  4. You meet Australia’s identity, health and character requirements.
